Whether you are truck camping, tent or RV camping you will have a blast. I will be reviewing this campground and hopefully help you gain more information before your stay. I know it is a little unnerving picking out a campground when you don’t know the area or the campground very well. I do a lot of research before I reserve a spot. Since my family and I are full time RV’ers we need to book sites a lot. I hope to share information about its location, amenities, safety, cleanliness, cost, length of stay, ease of access and services this campground provides. Always read Google reviews and look up their website too. I hope you enjoy, as always travel long, travel happy!

Cave Creek campground is pretty small compared to other Regional parks around the area, but it did not feel small at all. We stayed here for a few nights during the winter season, it was a little challenging booking a site with all the snowbirds coming down even during a pandemic in 2020. So, plan ahead and reserve a site right when you know you will be traveling to a popular area. Cave creek regional park has a website with an easy to use reservation system you can check that out here. It is $32 a night just like other regional parks around the area like Usery, Mcdowell and Lake Pleasant. You can reserve a spot up to 14 nights maximum so there is plenty of time for a short vacation or longer stay.

Location is one of our priorities when looking for an RV campground. We don’t like to drive an hour to the grocery store, restaurant or attraction when we have littles who don’t like being in the car for long periods of time. For Cave Creek, we were less than 10 minutes from all the things. Walmart was the nearest grocery store and we had to stop for Chipotle a few times while we were there. They also had a few gas stations on the main road (Carefree HWY/ Cave Creek Road) too.

During our stay we did not visit any attractions, but the visitors center. We watched a few park rangers plant cactus (never knew how, without hurting ourselves. Lol) The rangers were very friendly about letting us watch and learn a few tips about cactus planting. We also watched hummingbirds and other birds fly around some beautiful flowers. I wish we had a copy of this birds of Arizona book to help identify what we were seeing. I know my kids love hearing names and facts about the animals around us. Nearby there is a horse trail attraction to ride a horse through the sunset that would be a perfect date or great for older kids. The park also has trails for biking and walking to explore in the beautiful weather.

The park felt very safe and clean to us, they had an entrance gate that closes after hours. If you do stay out after closing, they provide you a gate code to get back in. The campers were all very friendly and quite at night which made for a peaceful experience. There are also dumpsters near the campsite too. The camp hosts work really hard at keeping the campground clean and fresh which we admired greatly.

The campsites are large and rather spread out in the campground. You still have a neighbor so be mindful of the space you are given. We have a 37ft travel trailer with slide outs on both sides and a truck, so we had plenty of space all around us. It also had a 20/30/50-amp pedestal and water hookups and an uncovered picnic table. The campground do not provide free WIFI, but we had pretty decent cell coverage. We have Verizon phones and used our hot spot. It would not be the best to camp here and need to work, but the campground is close enough to the city that it is feasible to receive better cell service to work.

Overall, we had a wonderful peaceful experience here at Cave Creek Regional Park with an overall rating of 8/10. I hope the information I provided will give you a better understanding of this campground and as always travel long, travel happy!
