Updated: Mar 12
Hello Beauties, welcome back or if you are new here, thanks for stopping by! I will be talking about one of the most beautiful state parks in Florida. You will be able to find this State Park in Lakeland in central Florida, called Colt Creek State Park. Florida is one of the most popular states to be in during the winter months. It is sunny and beautiful and full of things to do and people to meet.
In this article I will cover cost, amenities, a few things to do around the campground and the overall feel and rating of the place. Before I begin, always look up the campgrounds website, read Google reviews and search for YouTube videos or blogs about the campground you would like to stay at to get a bigger picture of what it will be like staying in the campground. As always, travel long, travel happy!
Colt Creek State Park is on over 5,000 acres, a place to explore wildlife and natures beauty. To start off here is a list of amenities this state park offers.
· Bicycling, there are over 15 miles of trails to explore
· Bird watching
· Glamping, they offer Cypress Dome sites, and experience luxury while out in nature. Don’t worry you don’t need to bring your RV for this experience
· Primitive equestrian camping. Bring your horse and enjoy with them!
· Primitive tent camping or group camping the traditional way
· Hiking with or without your horse walk along and soak in the views
· Paddle boating, Kayaks and boats can be rented at the ranger station
· Accessible amenities are available at Mac Lake nature trail, Picnic pavilions, fishing pier and grills
· Dump station
· Campfire circles
And so much more to enjoy with your family, friends and furry pets too. Enjoy the Junior Ranger Program with your littles. Also find your kids coloring pages to do out on a picnic table enjoying nature. Check out more programs and events on their website.
When you want to bring your RV and go camping here, check for availability on their website or you can call the front office. Max trailer lengths for the camp sites are 93 inches, plenty of space for big rigs and lots of room to play. It costs $24 per night in a RV site for a pull through or back in site. Check the website for reservation fees. Each site is a little different, but standard sites include 50/30 electric hookup, pets allowed, shade, pad length, water hookups. There is a dump station in the park.
When we stayed here, it was very relaxing and chill. The park rangers and workers were so nice to us, and showed us a few birds and lizards near the pavilion and lake. While Wi-Fi was not available from the park, we did have service data to use for work.
As colt creek is located in central Florida, we were fairly close to Orlando and Tampa. With a small drive you can go explore large cities, Disney, Tampa Zoo, Sea world, Ripley’s Believe It or Not! And so much more.
Overall, we had such a great experience here at Colt Creek State Park. If we were able to stay longer, we would have. It is a perfect place to take your families and enjoy Florida’s beautiful wildlife and nature. I want to rate this campground a 9/10.
